The purpose of Break Through 2019 is to provide attendees with the skills they need to effectively engage their audiences in today’s ever-changing communication landscape. We're bringing together communicators from the Waterloo Region (and surrounding areas) to learn about the latest and greatest industry info and trends, so they can take the next step in their careers.
Bring us your tips, tricks, experiences, ideas, predictions, or anything else your passion for communications and marketing inspires you to share.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for speakers who will provide a fresh perspective and new ideas our audience won’t already know. Our attendees are experienced and they want to build on that experience to make themselves stronger communicators. We’re also looking for a mix of skills and strategy based sessions.
Some of our favourite talks are ones that make people see every day things in a new way. We also love talks that deliver hard-earned knowledge based on real-world experience and research. Whether it's a case study on an award-winning campaign or how your team got through a crisis and what you learned, we want a diverse session offering for attendees.
We encourage people of all levels to submit talks, whether you are an experienced speaker or this will be your first time. Our previous conferences have had many first-time speakers and veterans who all hit it out of the park.
Keynote presentations will be 60 minutes long. Session presentations will be 45 minutes long. This includes time for questions. We also encourage speakers to stay behind after their session is complete the answer any additional questions.
You will be speaking to 100+ marketing and communications professionals from across the Waterloo Region and beyond. We attract attendees from as far away as London and Hamilton, and a few places in between. Speakers will be promoted through our social channels from the time they are booked until the date of the conference (and maybe even a little promo afterwards). Your photo, bio and a description of your talk will appear on our new conference website when it launches in January.
Once you submit your proposal, you’ll get a confirmation from our Conference Director within 48 hours. We will let you know if you have been accepted to speak by January 5, 2019.
