Communications Coordinator - Christian Horizons
Founded in 1965, Christian Horizons is a non-profit, faith-based charitable organization supporting people with disabilities in Canada and around the world. With over 3,500 employees, Christian Horizons supports nearly 2,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families. Christian Horizons supports people within their communities throughout Ontario and Saskatchewan. Internationally, Christian Horizons works in partnership with local organizations to promote the inclusion and rights of people with disabilities in six developing countries.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Development, the incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the Communications Department within Christian Horizons. The qualified candidate will be self-motivated, dedicated, pay attention to details and have the ability to manage competing deadlines. The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain excellent engagement across all of our social media platforms, uphold the Christian Horizons brand through simple graphic design, and maintain content on both internal and external websites. They will collaborate with others to deliver timely, accurate and exceptional work for newsletters, emails, advertising copy, posters, and website content.
Requirements: Education must include a College or University Diploma in at least one of journalism, media/broadcast, web marketing or communications, or have extensive experience in a marketing or communications team/ department. The position will require excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively with others. Excellent customer service requires strong interpersonal skills, and the candidate must be reliable and accountable. Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, desktop publishing and Hootsuite are required, with working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and SharePoint as an asset. Strong computer skills including web design, knowledge of graphic design principles, and exceptionally strong written communication skills are also required. Comprehensive understanding of the digital ecosystem and how web, mobile and social channels work together to optimize behaviour, acquisition and donations. Developmental Services or non-profit experience is an asset.
