wellness on the go: #Selfcaresunday for busy communicators

Communicators are always on the go. Deadlines, clients and new requests are always on the horizon. Working in such a demanding field, requires communicators to practice self-care and ensure their wellness is always #1. You can't do your best work if you are not your best self.

IABC Waterloo is excited to host a wellness workshop for communicators. The event will be led by Roderick Spence, an expert in self-care, wellness in the workplace and a yoga instructor. It will be hosted by our friends at Big Bliss in Kitchener.

IABC Waterloo started Break Through in 2017 to offer something totally new to communicators in the Waterloo Region. The purpose of Break Through is to provide attendees with the skills and strategic thinking they need to effectively engage their audiences in today’s rapid-fire communication landscape. We want to bring communicators together to learn about the latest and greatest industry info and trends, so they can take the next step in their careers.

Break Through 2019 covered a range of topics include social media, digital marketing, strategy/planning, and more.

 

UNCOVERING THE MYSTERIES OF SEO

Local digital marketing professional and SEO specialist Brendan Waller will walk us through the powerful and sometimes overwhelming world of SEO and what it means for modern-day communicators. His hands-on presentation will focus on a variety of SEO themes including:

  • SEO and content marketing

  • Short and long-tail keyword research

  • Common SEO myths

  • Landing page optimization

  • Effective SEO tools

Part of the IABC Digital Marketing Series, you will leave this workshop with actionable steps on how to improve your website's SEO.

 
 
 

Holiday Social + Instagram Workshop

Join us to celebrate in true IABC Waterloo spirit. We have an amazing evening of learning, networking and fun (mostly fun) planned for the first week of December, kicking off the holidays.

Our Holiday Social will include:

  • An Instagram expert mini master class, with Sylvia Pond, local photographer, entrepreneur and all-around giver of happiness.

  • The chance to practice your culinary decorating skills at a gourmet holiday cookie decorating workshop.

  • A cocktail hour with a charcuterie spread prepared by the Executive Chef of the Conestoga College School of Hospitality.

 

Kick-off event: Getting the most out of your email campaigns

Email marketing can be one of the most effective ways to persuade and convince your audience to take action. However, email isn’t easy to get right.

At the first event of our 2018/19 Board year (and the first event in our new Digital Marketing Series!) we will learn how to optimize our email marketing efforts – and the landing pages they link out to. You’ll walk away with some new skills to put into action for your organization right away.

As part of a behind-the-scenes, wide-ranging presentation on her career to date, Fran shared insights on being "NICE" to succeed, and how communications has shaped her success and influenced countless businesses, organizations and individuals across Waterloo Region, Ontario and beyond.
